2400 Voices Have Been Heard!

We are very happy to see that V/Line have announced their timetable changes, to start on September 30.

The 18:33 weekday Shepparton train will now run express between Broadmeadows and Seymour, reducing our travel time by about fifteen minutes.

We do feel that people power, in the form of more than 2400 petition signatures, has made a difference!

Our petition also asked that the departure time be changed back to 18:15 but that has not happened. Our train will still depart eighteen minutes later than before March 4 this year.

We would ideally like to see that departure time changed back but, in this, we feel that we are now representing the wider views of the Goulburn Valley community.

We would very much appreciate your feedback on this. Should we continue to campaign for the 18:15 departure?

A result of the change is that the Seymour commuter service that has departed at 18:33 for many years will now depart nine minutes later at 18:42. We would like to say that it was never our intention that any V/Line passengers should lose as a result of our win. Our request was that the Shepparton train be changed back to an 18:15 departure, leaving the Seymour service at 18:33.

[This text in brackets was added by Mary on September 5 at 9:30pm.
To help clarify why we are also asking Albury line travellers for their comments, I have attached a link to our Letter to the Premier giving more details about how the changes for Seymour, Shepparton and Albury line patrons are linked.
We welcome feedback from anyone who uses these train services.]

Please let us know what you think by leaving your comments using the comments link at the bottom of this post!

With best wishes and sincere thanks to everyone who has supported us, from Mary and Bev

Details of the timetable changes, including extra weekend services, can be seen at www.vline.com.au

I make about five or six day trips to Melbourne each year. On most of those occasions, I complete the matters I need to attend to by about 3.00pm. The evening train to Wodonga used to leave at a convenient time of 5.10pm. Now the evening train is scheduled to leave at 6.15pm. That later departure time produces two problems for me - [1] I have to spend an extra hour or so waiting on Southern Cross platform which is often bitterly cold and [2]I do not reach my home in Wodonga until after 10.00pm which makes for a very long day given I leave home at about 6.00am to catch the morning train. Could the evening train leave Southern Cross at 5.10pm please on at least some weekday afternoons.

Keep up the good work. Give us back our 18.15pm Southern Cross Station departure to Shepparton express from Broadmeadows to Seymour. A return to the 7.15am departure from Shepparton would be fantastic!

Why the hell it all can't go back to what is was 18 or so months ago is beyond me!

To try to tell people that the new timetables are a result or "customer feedback" is utterly ridiculous and holds the paying customer in severe comtempt.

No one in their right mind would request to get home LATER or have their train stop at MORE stops.

The minor changes in the morning have benifitted me, sure, but that purely my own selfish point of view. There may be a HANDFUL of people who are also better off with the evening changes but the MAJORITY are worse off in almost every regard.

Congratulations, Maragaret, to you and your whole group at getting back SOME minor wins with the Shepparton service. However, if the first few nights are any indication, the updated timetable won't make any difference since we're ALL getting home later anyway!
